Luckily for us in Nepal, we get to celebrate another New Year! So how about those resolutions you set yourself last January?

It’s time to redefine your goals.
What did you set out to achieve?
How realistic was it?
What changes do you need to make so that your goals are more realistic?
What is your physical and health well-being looking like?
What about that promise to take walks, join a gym, and take short breaks away from your work?

Now it’s your chance to Re-define. Re-boot. Re-energize!

Here are our 5 HEALTHY NEW YEAR TIPS

YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT.

Cut the junk! What is junk food exactly? Junk food is referred to as processed, commercially available foods that are most often than not, very low in nutritional value. However, usually very high in other elements that we do not need in our diet: saturated fats, sugars, preservatives, additives and more.

Educate yourself on what your food contains, and where it comes from! Eating healthier, ‘cleaner’ food will improve your energy, mental wellbeing, skin and so many more benefits! Support local produce that is free from harmful preservatives, pesticides and other chemicals.

This year your diet should include more whole foods that are unprocessed and unrefined. Consume more organic vegetables, grains and proteins.

MOVE YOUR BODY

Do you remember the 30-minute daily exercise plan?

Well, it is high time to shake off the winter pounds and give your body the vitality and strength it deserves. The medical field say that just 30 minutes a day of moderate to high aerobic exercise is sufficient to shed the pounds!

So, what are you waiting for?

RESTFUL SLEEP

Ensuring a restful sleep is extremely vital for all of your body functions and mental wellbeing. During sleep, your body produces specific hormones and enzymes that you need to function and cope.

If you feel that you are not getting restful sleep, consider implementing a relaxing daily bedtime routine away from bright lights (yes, that includes your mobile phone!). Separate yourself from activities that cause excitement, stress or anxiety, which may make it more difficult to sleep, get sound sleep or enough sleep.

Daily exercise also positively influences your sleep quality!

Consider using essential oils in your home. Whether you prefer to massage them into your skin, diffuse, or burn; essential oils can play an important role in your quality of life and sleep.

STIMULATE YOUR SENSES

Engage in relaxing and unwinding activities and periodically treat yourself with some loving treatments like getting a massage or relaxing in a jacuzzi.

Some people like take a walk in nature to get fresh air and feel grounded and connected to Mother Earth. Others find meditation in dancing, painting, writing or cooking!

Find your muse in whatever activity makes you feel relaxed and stimulated. Create joyful moments for yourself. You deserve it!

HEALTHY BODY; HEALTHY MIND

Taking into consideration the above points, it is recommended to work on achieving a healthy and positive mindset. Here are some of our final tips:

– Congratulate yourself on each small milestone you accomplish. Each time, you are one step closer to the final goal!

– Do not beat yourself about not getting things perfect right away. Practice makes perfect, and it sure does take time…

– So be patient!

– Be kind to yourself, and others.

– Finally, love yourself!
